Amalia Boother

Y3, Y4, Y5 English as an Additional Language Specialist Teacher

Hello, my name is Maya, and this will be my fourth-year teaching at Metropole. I am an EAL teacher in Primary, and I have been teaching for nearly 20 years in a mixture of primary and secondary settings.

I have a Bachelors in Primary education, a Masters in Family Education and I am an EAL qualified teacher. I have taught in different parts of the world: Mexico, France, England, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, each of these countries has enriched my teaching skills and has widened my cultural and diversity awareness.

As an educator, I firmly believe in the importance of cultivating strong relationships with my students. It is through these relationships that we create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, laying the foundation for meaningful learning experiences.

As a fluent speaker of English and Spanish, alongside my ongoing journey in French and Italian, I have experienced firsthand the richness and beauty that each language has to offer, hence I aim to empower my students to embark on their own language learning journeys with confidence and enthusiasm by   fostering a supportive and encouraging classroom environment.

I love reading, writing, traveling, running and dancing, in fact, I was a Latin American dancer once.  Dogs are a passion of mine, I am studying an Animal Assisted therapy course  focused on dogs; my plan is to use these skills in an educational setting to help with students’ well-being.
