Field Trips

At MTS, field trips are exceptional opportunities for students to integrate classroom learning with real-world experiences. These excursions are designed to challenge students' thinking and establish a foundation for enquiry-based and experiential learning. Furthermore, our field trips support our well-being priorities by fostering teamwork, leadership skills and a love of active lifestyles.

All of MTS’ trips are assessed for educational and financial value. They are risk assessed and held to the strictest healthy and safety protocols.

Here’s why school trips are integral to your child’s education and how they align with our curriculum:

Active Learning & Real World Experiences:

School trips provide students with hands-on, real-world experiences that cannot be replicated within the confines of a classroom. Whether it’s cooking with a chef, visiting a historical site or engaging with nature in an outdoor setting, these experiences allow students to make connections between what they have learned in the classroom and the world around them.

Leadership & Personal Development:

School trips provide valuable opportunities for  participation in real-world learning beyond the classroom. They promote emotional development by allowing students to navigate new settings, manage unfamiliar situations and build resilience. These experiences strengthen relationships, as students interact with their peers in new ways, enhancing collaboration, communication and empathy. Exploring the world outside school adds meaning to learning by connecting it to real-life contexts. Trips also support independence, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and make decisions with growing confidence. Finally, such experiences promote reflective thinking, helping students develop into confident, well-rounded individuals.

Diversity & Global Awareness:

In a diverse and multicultural city like Dubai, exposing students to different cultures, traditions and perspectives is essential. School trips provide students with firsthand experiences of cultural diversity, helping them develop respect, tolerance and appreciation for people from various backgrounds. By engaging with different communities and exploring diverse environments, students become more globally aware and culturally competent citizens.

From Foundation Stage to Sixth Form, our trips are meticulously curated to seamlessly align with students' personal and educational goals.

Primary Trips

In the Primary years, trips are carefully designed around specific themes that support classroom learning, helping students connect their curriculum to the world around them. As students move into the Junior years, we introduce camps focused on holistic development—nurturing independence, collaboration, resilience, and personal growth through immersive experiences beyond the classroom.

Secondary Trips - Metropole Without Walls

Week Without Walls is a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that takes students beyond the traditional classroom to engage with their peers in new and exciting environments. Whether participating in service projects like beach clean-ups, outdoor adventures such as the Hatta Hike and camp, or team activities like Sports Day, students develop leadership, resilience and a deeper connection to the world around them. Excursions to places like Ferrari World and IMG World add an element of fun and challenge, while on-campus activities such as CV writing workshops, sustainability projects, and HPL (High Performance Learning) challenges—further support students' personal and academic growth.

Week Without Wall Handbook

Kenya Expedition 2022

It was a very interesting place to visit. We start every morning with a nice breakfast, in this lovely place.

The first day, we made a fence to protect local fields from the Elephants. The next day we had a long 7 hours hiking in Marungu hills, then some beads making and some paper making from the Elephant dung, what an interesting experience!

We were so happy to support the school projects and help the students to have a better place to learn and study. We worked hard, we laughed a lot, we did our best to play with the kids and see the smiles on their faces. The Safari trip was another amazing experience I ever had, it’s a different part of the world. (JUST BEAUTIFUL!)

It was very interesting to know a new magical place in this part of the world that we live in. I recommend this trip to everyone to be more independent, curious about new places, and to give back to communities and to help people.

Thank you, GEMS Metropole, for giving me this opportunity! - Basil Darkal - 9E
