Andrew Walters
Head of English Department (Infants)
My name is Andy Walters and I am extremely excited to welcome your child into my Year 2 class. This year will be my third year at Metropole and I have enjoyed being part of such a vibrant and enthusiastic community.
Next year will be my seventh year of teaching and I am looking forward to meeting all of you in the new term, ready to begin our learning journey together. I foster a respectful and inquisitive environment where children are not afraid to learn from their mistakes.
When I was at school, learning was always enjoyable. I attended a GEMS school and relished the challenges that were placed in front of me. This, in turn, inspired my to go into teaching to provide children with the same experience I was provided.
In my spare time I love to watch and play both football and rugby. I actually enjoy watching most sports and give most of them a go, too! I love music and going to concerts and am often at my happiest when playing my guitar or being shouted at by my two rescue cats, Penny and Bear.
Working in primary years, I have the luxury of teaching most subjects. I am particularly passionate about English. This was a subject I enjoyed at school as it allowed me to focus on being creative and innovative. I always encourage children to lean on their imagination in these lessons.
I look forward to meeting you all and working together to support your children in the best possible way.
