Crystal Bauer
Forest School Lead
My name is Crystal, and I'm thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to you and your child as the Forest School Teacher at GEMS Metropole School.
This will be my 8th year within the MTS community, with extensive experience in EYFS and KS1. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, I now reside in Dubai with my husband and our three children.
My journey in education began with a BA degree in Psychology and Ethical Studies, and a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Cape Town.
Being from South Africa, I bring a profound appreciation for nature-based learning. Outdoor learning is more than just a change of scenery; it's an immersive experience that connects children with the natural world. Through activities such as exploring local ecosystems, identifying plants and animals, and participating in hands-on projects, children develop a deep sense of curiosity and respect for the environment.
In the outdoor classroom, children have the freedom to explore, experiment, and take risks in a safe and supportive environment. Whether it's building shelters or simply observing the changing seasons, outdoor learning enhances resilience, problem-solving skills, and a sense of wonder.
I firmly believe in nurturing each child's unique perspective and potential to become inquisitive, critical thinkers. My goal is to create an environment that fosters creativity, perseverance, and a genuine love for learning, both indoors and outdoors.
I am excited to embark on this educational journey with your child and to be a supportive partner in their growth and development.
