Muneera Millwala

Hello, my name is Muneera Millwala, and I will be joining the Metropole community this year as a secondary inclusion teacher. I am deeply passionate about creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students.

With my background in inclusive education as well as experience teaching in schools in UAE, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my new role.

As a Masters candidate for the Special and Inclusive Education program at the University of Nottingham, I completed my dissertation on an exploratory study of 'Parents perspectives of inclusion for their children with special needs in mainstream schools in Dubai.

The research process has given me in-depth insight into the ground realities of the practice of inclusion within schools in Dubai. Apart from the grasp on the subject knowledge and policies, the research process involved me to scan through relevant research to formulate frameworks and provide strategic direction.

For the past 3 years, I was working with children in primary school and was trained to carry out assessments for various developmental and learning disabilities, and was given the responsibility to design and implement Individualized education plans (IEP). Developing Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for children and marking achievable targets has helped me gain insight into differing needs of each child and how they must be attended to with differentiated instruction as well as sensory integration. The use of behavioral techniques and structured teaching within one-on-one sessions has shown me how every child has the potential to learn with the right approach.

As a firm believer of holistic learning and the impact of the environment on a child, I aim to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement inclusive practices that promote academic achievement and social-emotional growth for all students. With my positive attitude, creativity, and unwavering dedication to student success, I look forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of students and contributing to the inclusive and welcoming environment at GEMS Metropole.
