Andrew Meadows
Teacher of PE & Head of Boys Basketball
My name is Mr. Meadows, and I am delighted to be a member of the Gems Metropole community as a Teacher of Physical Education. I joined the Gems community in August 2022 where I moved to Dubai from the northwest of England. Prior to this exciting change, my role as Sports Tutor at Wigan Warriors Academy gave me great opportunity and experience in teaching, learning and assessing learners at a variety of levels and ages. Before this position, I have been able to develop my skills as a teacher in varying roles, such as a primary and secondary cover teacher, a degree mentor, a sports coach and a fitness instructor. After a year at GEMS Metropole I have continued in my teaching development and gained valuable experiences in FS2, primary and secondary school that have moulded my skills even further.
Sports, health and well-being is a huge passion of mine. Along with its ability to be inclusive, engaging and providing healthy competition, these staples of society allows for the development of life-long positive skills such as confidence, determination, leadership, resilience and good opportunities to maintain good health. It brings me great pleasure to be able to work in the Gems Metropole community and deliver these aspects alongside a great staff team and curriculum within Physical Education.
In my spare time I take part in and spectate a variety of sports, mainly Rugby League and Football. I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle via using the gym and keeping up a healthy(ish) diet. I enjoy cooking, travelling and seeing new sights both manmade and natural.
I am extremely excited and motivated to delve into this next chapter of my career and be a part of the flourishing establishment that is Gems Metropole School!
