Melissa Rhule

Teacher of PE & Head of Netball

My name is Melissa Rhule and I am excited to be starting at GEMS Metropole this year as part of the Physical Education Department.

I qualified as a PE teacher from Loughborough University in 2019 and have spent 4 years teaching PE at GCSE and A Level as well as teaching a second subject. I also studied my BSc in Applied Sport Science at Loughborough University too.

Throughout my career I have enjoyed being an assistant head of sixth form and leading on extra-curricular activities/ opportunities for all students which I hope to continue here at GEMS. Activities included running sports clubs, CPR training with a charity, fresher’s fairs, athlete day’s and running a sports leadership programme to increase girl’s participation in sport.

My hobbies outside of school are playing netball, going to the gym and socialising with friends and family.

I believe that every student should be given the chance to succeed and that students should strive to be the best versions of themselves. By creating an environment that incorporates developing the whole student through elements of physical fitness, knowledge and understanding, communication, teamwork, and resilience will allow them to thrive and progress.

Nurturing, empowering young people for life, and providing them with the opportunities to fulfil their potential and aspirations, are exactly the reasons I entered the teaching profession and I am very excited to meet you all!
